Again & still at work

leider ist es schon wieder eine ziemlich lange Zeit her, daß ich hier etwas getan habe, jedoch war ich nicht vollkommen faul (örm) oder habe den Blog aufgegeben.

Nachdem ich mein BS auf einen ziemlich aktuellen Stand gebracht hatte, mußte ich feststellen daß auch mit den besten Tricks mein alter Scannner nicht mehr lauffähig war. Besonderer Dank geht hier an HP, die nicht daran dachten für den alten HP 5470 Treiber zu liefern.

Nach längerer Überlegung entschied ich mich für ein Neugerät von Epson, den V500. Die Modelle darüber empfand ich als ein bissl einen technischen Overkill, da ich zwar alte Familienphotos, nicht aber Vatterns tausende(?) Dias auch einscannnen will.

Nach weiteren Überlegungen blieb ich bei der hauseigenen ScanSW, die habe ich mittlerweile so eingestellt daß es klaglos funktioniert.

Beim Kauf habe ich natürlich darauf geachtet, daß ich endlich (endlich!!!) in druckfähiger Qualität (man wird konditioniert, wenn man mit Graphikern zu tun hat) scannen kann. Künftig werden alle Scans mit 300dpi erfolgen.

Erstes Projekt ist dabei das Neuscannen aller meiner Cover. Ich weiß, nicht sehr ergiebig und neu, auch für mich nicht sehr motivierend, aber wenigstens ist dann ein großer Brocken "Bürokratie" erledigt. Und wenn ichs jetzt nicht mache, dann nie. Zur Zeit sollten ca 3/5 gescannt sein, es wird sich also noch ziehen, sorry. Als erstes werden die 'Anderen Hefte' gescannt, erst danach Pleasure.

I'm sorry that it's again a long time ago I did something for this blog, and you might think I'm lazy (hrrm) oder abandonded this blog, but that's not completely correct.

After updating to an OS that's almost up to date, I finally had to realise that no trick would do to make my then scanner run. Thanks HP for not providing drivers for this device!

After longer considerations and calculations I ordered a scanner from Epson, the V500. The better models seemed a little bit of an overkill, and I wanted to own a better model than the casual scanner-user. ;-) I do want to scan old familyphotos (and my own older ones) but scanning Dad's thousands(?) dias is above every consideration.

After other considerations I stuck to the scanner's own SW, the other two main providers seemed a little bit of overkill for me, I would just have no time to use them to the max, and after some tryouts I have made the Epson scanner do what I want it to do.

Of course I looked for a scanner that would make scans with 300dpi, so you can print out the scans and make a new mag. You get conditioned when working with designers!

First work is to scan all covers with the new standard, a dull job, not very 'useful' for you out there, but if I don't make it now ... Up to now I should have scanned 3/5, so it will still need some time. First published will be 'the other mags'-part.

  

They never come back

I really hope that this is NOT true for me ...
I had severe health problems, they are still not solved, and the implications will probably accompany me for the rest of my life. Bad thing that is. It's not that my lifespan is forseeable (at least I hope so) but life's got more complicated, things that were not necessary to think about now have to thought over, my short-term memory is really a mess.


I'm currently uploading my files to a new hoster (I noticed that in hospital), I'm not a fan of RS, so these won't be the new ones. If I find time I'll will try to upload my files also to a second one.

Ich konnte nicht herausfinden, nach welcher Systematik die Filme (von Nummer 89 bis 237 und einige aus der 1100er Serie) in diesem Heftchen versammelt wurden, aber vielleicht kann ein SE-Spezialist mit der Zusammenstellung und den Informationen etwas anfangen.

Couldn't find out why loops from the range 89 to 237 and some from the 1100 series were collected in this catalog, but maybe the infos are of some value for a SE-specialist.

The Collection

Nur ein kleiner 12 Seiter, ein Katalog für die Filme 1 bis 72 der "Collection"-Filme. Diese 12 Seiten sind zusammengefaltet, ich habe sie einfach aufsteigend nummeriert. Mehr als der Name wird nicht vermerkt, aber soo unbekannt sind die Filme ja nicht.
Just a small set of 12 pages, previews from the films 1-72 from the "Collection"-films. The pages are folded, therefore have no start and end, I just named them counting the films. Just the names are mentioned, but the films are not unknown either.

Wieder einmal Teil 3 / Once again part 3

Hier nun der "Rest", diesmal aber eindeutig die Mehrheit und Vielfalt:

Mags from VTO, Gourmet, ZBF, Pleasure Production, CP-Production, PSV-Verlag, VHM (Verlag Hans Möstl), Staviss, Pink Production, CPI-Verlagsgesellschaft, MGN...


Für die Gourmet Hefte freue ich mich besonders, da sie (wie ich glaube) in Europa wirklich selten sind. Das einzige, dafür aber wirklich schwerwiegende Problem ist, daß sie offensichtlich oft eine Klebebindung haben. Dadurch lassen sie sich fürs Scannen (sie haben ein so großes Format, daß sie das ganze Scannerglas bedecken!) schwer auseinanderdrücken und zerbrechen in Einzelseiten. So geschehen schon beim zaghaften Versuch Beispielbilder zu scannen.
Wer also eine simple Methode kennt eine Klebebindung wieder zu reparieren, nur her damit!
I'm really excited about the mags from Gourmet because imho these mags are now really hard to find in Europe. The main problem is (and it's a really hard one) that they very often used adhesive/glue binding and pinning them down for scanning results in them breaking up in several pages, even when doing it carefully.
So if someone can give me an advise to repair adhesive/glue binding I will happily scan thes mags (that fill the whole scannerglass!).
